As the name suggests, square-head bolts have a square head instead of a hexagon. The 90° corners provide more grip than a hex bolt, which has 60° corners. This way, the square bolt prevents the socket from slipping off the bolt head.  

At Fabory, you can find various types of square-head bolts: 

DIN 478: A square head bolt with a collar. The collar itself is round to increase the contact surface.  

DIN 479: A square head bolt with a short shank.  

DIN 480: A square head collar bolt with a rounded shank.
